#liberationispossible

30 Days of Liberation Exploration

Do you believe it is possible?

Liberation, that is?

A collective, individual, and internal liberation...
have you ever considered that possibility?

And have you considered it as a way to challenge white supremacy and other forms of oppression?

We're talking a deep, expansive, aware, active, and relational liberation.  A liberation that is more than a word but rather a way of being.  A liberation that is not FOR anyone else, but that is for yourself in relationship and community with others.   A recognition and a living example of the beautiful quote by Aboriginal Australian activist and artist, Lilla Watson,

"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."

What is possible from that kind of liberation?  We, Bari and Tanya, have been intentionally focused on that kind of liberation in our work, our lives and our thinking and we wanted to use the month of July (our birthday month - kinda fitting right?) to launch a project that we will undertake yearly with the community that chooses into the adventure.  Through the work of Dr. Barbara Love, in her article Developing a Liberatory Consciousness, we know:

“We have been socialized into roles of dominant and subordinate (in a system of oppression).  One result is that our vision of possibilities for change is limited by our confinement in the roles to which we have been assigned.”

As Dr. Love states in the quote above, our vision for liberation and therefore, change, is limited to the ways in which we conform or inhabit the roles that we have been socialized into - and our ability and willingness to challenge those roles through our awareness, analysis and commitment to action.  She clearly articulates the importance of establishing an individual and collective commitment to challenging our oppressive conditioning, aligning to disciplined and consistent beliefs and actions that move us toward a liberated future.  We believe there are many ways to challenge our oppressive consciousness and conditioning - and we want to use this month to do it by focusing on liberation.

Join us on the journey of exploring the possibility of liberation in the month of July.

Connection

Join the weekly zoom coaching sessions and get ready to share your reflections on what you're learning and the ways that you are living into your own and others liberation.  We'll invite you to share your thinking, videos and inspirations with each other - in liberatory ways.  It will be a way to notice where your oppression conditioning might be showing up, and receive support to challenge it.

Exploration

You will receive a weekly newsletter with reflections from Bari and Tanya, actions, assignments, and inspirations to accompany you along your journey.  You'll learn more about our own understanding of liberation and how we "go after it" in our own daily lives.

Celebration

We'll have a mini celebration to reflect together on what we're learning and the impact of moving liberation to the forefront of our minds for this time.  On July 29th, we'll host a community zoom to celebrate the journey and learn how we can go after more expansion in our lives.

We are even liberatory about money...

We want to offer a sliding scale pricing structure for this adventure. If you want to learn more about what sliding scale means check out this fabulous article. Essentially it's a structure that moves closer to collective liberation. Perhaps it'll be something that we even talk about during the month but for right now all you need to basically know is that we want you to choose your fee. This month of engagement, coaching, relationship building, and self exploration is worth $50. There are many complex ways to help you figure out what you might offer in a sky sliding scale structure but we want to keep it pretty simple. Maybe you've seen the green bottle example floating around the Internet.  Well, here's a way to think about pricing using that model for this course:
Bottle 1:  $75 | Bottle 2: $50 | Bottle 3: $25

Interested in Participating?

We're excited that you're interesting in joining us on the journey of exploring the possibility of liberation in the month of July. It's a two step process to continue your journey in liberation:

Step One: Complete your registration by completing the form included in the scheduler.   It includes three short questions - we promise!  You will be signed up immediately and receive a calendar invitation and zoom link for the first group coaching session.

Step Two: We want to make this accessible and possible for all who want to participate.   As we state above,  if you want to pay a fee, please scroll down to Payment Options section (below) and choose the amount that you want to pay.  And really it's going to be up to you. You can even participate for free. (Though spaces are limited.) We wanted to keep this reasonable because we just want to give people space to be in liberation. To think about it. To wonder about it. To know that you're worthy of it.

After an fascinating beginning to their relationship, Bari Katz and Tanya Williams have developed a relationship over the years deeply rooted in their shared beliefs and values  around social justice and liberation. As a design and facilitation team, we have worked with a number of outstanding organizations to disrupt the nature of white supremacist patterns and culture.
