#liberationispossible

Go After Your Liberation. And Go Hard.

30 Days of Liberation

Do you believe it is possible?

Liberation, that is?

A collective, individual, and internal liberation...
have you ever considered that possibility?

And have you considered it as a way to challenge white supremacy and other forms of oppression?

We're talking a deep, expansive, aware, active, and relational liberation.  A liberation that is more than a word but rather a way of being.  A liberation that is not FOR anyone else, but that is for yourself in relationship and community with others.   A recognition and a living example of the beautiful quote by Aboriginal Australian activist and artist, Lilla Watson,

"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."

What is possible from that kind of liberation?  We, Bari and Tanya, have been intentionally focused on that kind of liberation in our work, our lives and our thinking and we wanted to use the month of July (our birthday month - kinda fitting right?) to launch a project that we will undertake yearly with the community that chooses into the adventure.  Through the work of Dr. Barbara Love, in her article Developing a Liberatory Consciousness, we know:

“We have been socialized into roles of dominant and subordinate (in a system of oppression).  One result is that our vision of possibilities for change is limited by our confinement in the roles to which we have been assigned.”

As Dr. Love states in the quote above, our vision for liberation and therefore, change, is limited to the ways in which we conform or inhabit the roles that we have been socialized into - and our ability and willingness to challenge those roles through our awareness, analysis and commitment to action.  She clearly articulates the importance of establishing an individual and collective commitment to challenging our oppressive conditioning, aligning to disciplined and consistent beliefs and actions that move us toward a liberated future.  We believe there are many ways to challenge our oppressive consciousness and conditioning - and we want to use this month to do it by focusing on liberation.

The 30 Days At A Glance
This month will be a month of:

Exploration

You will receive a weekly newsletter with reflections from Bari and Tanya, actions, assignments, and inspirations to accompany you along your journey.  You'll learn more about our own understanding of liberation and how we "go after it" in our own daily lives.

Connection

Join the Facebook Group and get ready to share your reflections on what you're learning and the ways that you are living into your own and others liberation.  We'll invite you to share your thinking, videos and inspirations with each other - in liberatory ways.  It will be a way to notice where your oppression conditioning might be showing up, and receive support to challenge it.  We'll also do a couple of facebook lives to support participants along the journey

Celebration

We'll have a mini celebration to reflect together on what we're learning and the impact of moving liberation to the forefront of our minds for this time.  On July 27th, we'll host a community zoom to celebrate the journey and learn how we can go after more expansion in our lives.

Join us on the journey of exploring the possibility of liberation in the month of July.
